A group of entrepreneurs and a panel of experts in nutrition, exercise physiology, childhood obesity and restaurant management joined to flip conventional wisdom and give kids a voice through ZisBoomBah.com, the new website “Where it’s OK to play with your food!”
Boulder, CO, March 24, 2010 – Fresh out of beta and free to the public, ZisBoomBah introduces the panel of accomplished health, nutrition and food experts and the core team of astute entrepreneurs behind the new company. ZisBoomBah.com features a fun, engaging tool that gives kids a voice in what’s on their plate. The Boulder Company offers the missing piece to current national programs in fighting childhood obesity.
ZisBoomBah founder Karen Laszlo carefully chose her team with a vision of putting children at the center of the solution; this is evident in the creative Pick Chow! visual that allows children to intuitively put together a 5 Star meal. “Kids were amazed at how quickly they could put together a 5 Star meal! Their excitement and enthusiasm was greater than any lecture a teacher can give!” said Jackie Johnston, a grade school teacher in Va.
Earlier this month, ZisBoomBah launched a campaign encouraging parents to give children responsibility for what they eat. In a fresh approach to raising healthy eaters that puts the solution into the hands of the children, ZisBoomBah’s team developed an easy, free online tool called “Pick Chow!” Pick Chow! empowers children to create their own wholesome meals. The animated ants Zis, Boom and Bah spark kids interest throughout ZisBoomBah.com’s educational and entertaining online environment including activities, meal contests, videos and social networking features for children. A Parents’ Dashboard provides parents with management tools, content, blogs and a bi-weekly email newsletter to support parent’s efforts to get kids to eat healthy.

Karen has done many amazing things in her life so far but don’t plan on seeing her slow down anytime soon. Thus ZisBoomBah! Karen has 24 yrs in finance, strategic planning and marketing with Fortune 500, mid-sized Companies and Internet start-up ventures. She was VP Corp Development at Astrum Financial, VP Business Development at PlanSoft (Starcite) a member of a Turnaround Team at Advanstar Communication, and Founder of Kimbelina.com- a very special gift blanket company. ZisBoomBah is an innovative website that challenges conventional wisdom and develops tools to empower children and inspire parents to live a fun, active and healthy life. ZisBoomBah’s free online tool “Pick Chow!” allows children to create meals by dragging and dropping foods onto their virtual plate. The “Add it Up!” meters show the nutritional values in a fun and easy way and rates each meal with one to five stars – a feature that helps children learn quickly how their choices make a difference in creating a well-balanced meal. Children can send their “chow” to their parents, who then receive an email with what their child has chosen to be a healthy choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with the menu, recipe, shopping list and coupons.
Behind ZisBoomBah is a panel of health, nutrition and food experts and a team of experienced entrepreneurs who strive to ensure that the site’s content is sound and the recipes are as delicious for kids as they are nutritious.
