ZisBoomBah Invites Kids and Parents to Pick Chow!
ZisBoomBah.com, grand-prize winner in the Let’s Move Apps for Healthy Kids Contest, features interactive tools and games that help kids “play with their food” while learning about better-for-you food choices. ZisBoomBah.com is taking its mission on the road through Pick Chow! Across America, a nationwide series of Iron Chef-style cook-offs for kids that has gained momentum and support through like-minded corporate partners, restaurants and chefs. The event features two famous local chefs, with the help of two kid sous chefs who compete to develop a kid-friendly healthy meal that tastes great. With a panel of local kids judges, Pick Chow! Across America gets kids involved, engaged, and excited to be a part of building a 5-star, crowd-pleasing meal. ZisBoomBah kicked off the 2011 events in Florida and will travel to Boulder, Chicago and Portland and Denver.
“ZisBoomBah’s goal is to give kids a voice at the dinner table by arming them with the knowledge and power to make healthy choices,” said Mike Carcaise, ZisBoomBah COO and co-founder. “Kids love the event–imagine hundreds of kids glued to their seats watching chefs create tasty meals, learning about food, winning prizes and having fun!”
The Chefs Weigh In
As the reigning Pick Chow! champion, Chef Rosenberg understands the planning and training he must endure prior to the event to please the tough kid judges. “Top Chef really helped prepare me for this event,” said Rosenberg. “Chef Skokan is stiff competition, but I feel confident I will keep my ZisBoomBah title!” With three little boys at home, Chef Eric feels he knows just what kids like and is confident and up to the challenge. “Chef Hosea and I are friends, but it will be gloves off at the event,” said Skokan. “I’ll bring him down!”
Awarding $1000 to Colorado School for Pledging to Be Healthy
At the event, ZisBoomBah will recognize the Colorado school that wins the Colorado I’m a Healhty Kid Contest with a $1000 check to go towards healthy kid school programs. The contest runs through May 23rd. Kids are invited to take a pledge and be a leader among their friends and family members by encouraging them to do the same. The school with the largest percentage of kids who take the pledge wins. Says Carcaise: “The pledge is about creating positive momentum and bringing families together around a healthy table.”
