Horizon's Lunchbox Randomizer helps busy parents plan healthy lunch options kids will love.

Horizon Organic’s Toolbox for Moms, launched this August on Facebook, has helped many busy moms (and dads) plan healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for their hungry kids, while avoiding the trap of a repetitive, limited menu.

Stephanie Null, the online community manager for Horizon Organic, a WhiteWave Foods brand, explains the goal of the Toolbox for Moms is to bring together busy moms in an online community to share and discuss ideas for providing varied, nutritious meals and snacks to their families.

“We wanted to have a resource for good nutrition that is very user-friendly. Facebook provides a strong platform for sharing and building an online community. Of course we want it to help guide people to our page, but it is more about sharing knowledge and building community,” Stephanie says.

There are three main jump-off points within the toolbox application to get you started. The Mom’s Almanac provides important dates for the month and gives tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle for moms and their kids. You can also access Horizon’s Healthy Families Community to discuss these topics with other moms.

The Lunchbox Randomizer is Stephanie’s favorite application. The Randomizer helps busy parents plan healthy lunch options kids will love by accessing a database of tasty options within four food categories: dairy, protein, carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables. With a quick click on the Randomize button, meal options “spin” before your eyes before settling on a menu that will bring original lunchtime combinations into view. For each menu choice, you can click for more nutritional information and tips for serving. If the lunchbox is a keeper, you can print a shopping list with a simple click.

If you’ve ever wondered what foods your child should be eating throughout a typical day or if you should be packing items in your child’s lunch to ensure sound nutrition, clicking on Videos and More will show you important information and fun graphics to deliver the facts. With colorful PDF charts of the “Top Ten Back to School Foods” and “Kids’ Day in Nutrition,” you will be informed and ready to provide the delicious and nutritious foods your family craves.

As a busy mom who has been known to pack the same turkey-and-cheese on whole wheat 10 days in a row, I’ll be reaching for this toolbox on a daily basis.
