There were so many wonderful family holiday cookie recipes our talented staff submitted to our Cookie Cook-Off, I had to share them all with our ZisBoomBah.com blog readers. Do you have some cookie recipes you’d like to share with our interactive community of parents? We are always looking for some tasty gluten-free, sugar-free or tree-nut free treats that our diet-restricted families would appreciate.
Without further ado, here are our delicious submissions!
Courtney Gibb, ZBB Contributor, submitted three recipes to the contest!
“Here are my family’s foolproof sugar cookies—we’ve never found a better recipe than this basic one! Plus they are good for any occasion.”
Chewy Caramel Apple Chip Cookies
“My family hasn’t stopped talking about these since the first time my brother and I made them! They are so good! And caramel apple is a fun fall/winter flavor. The only thing to note is that the caramel has to be totally cooled before you take them off the baking sheet or it gets really messy!”
Chocolate Fudge Zucchini Cookies
“OMG—the zucchini cookies are so good!!!!” — Karen Laszlo
Sandra Henderson, ZBB Editor and Writer, was the winner of the cookie contest with her delicious recipe for Vanillekipferl (vanilla crescents). She also submitted this wonderful cinnamon cookie kids will love!
Oma’s Zimtsterne (Cinnamon Stars)
Makes about 10 dozen cookies
Kate Schlag, ZBB Contributor, submitted a moist, tasty seasonal quick bread to our contest. A great morning treat while unwrapping all those presents Santa left!
Orange Cranberry Bread
Rebecca Milanski, ZBB Contributor
Aunt Jenny’s Thumbprint Butter Cookies
These butter cookies are from my great-aunt Jenny, a wonderful baker from Manchester, England. The best part I remember about these cookies was getting to stick my thumb into the dough to make the imprint for filling!
Edie Chang, ZBB’s Partnership Manager, submitted a delicious biscotti recipe full of nuts and dried fruit.
Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti
“I must admit I love to bake, but I have no patience with rolled, cut-out cookies! Most years I make cranberry pistachio biscotti—kind of festive, really easy to make (though gooey) and yummy. Bonus points for dipping half in melted chocolate.”
And last, but certainly not least, Karen Laszlo, creator of ZBB, and chef, mom, and grandmom extraordinaire.
Gingerbread Cookies 101
“It ended up that all the kids made a ton of girl and boy gingerbread… they kept singing, ‘Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!’ Then Josie wanted a boy and girl so they could get married!”
